The Financial Literacy Holiday Bootcamp uses the
Big Five financial secrets to empower our future leaders.

What is the Financial Literacy Holiday Bootcamp?

The Financial Literacy Holiday Bootcamp is an exceptional program that offers primary and high school students a unique opportunity to learn financial concepts in a fun and interactive way. The program covers various topics including; planning, savings, debt management, investments, and budgeting. Best of all, it's free, making it an accessible option for all students looking to improve their financial literacy.
Who can attend the bootcamp?
  • For juniors - We try to teach them that it's never too early to teach children that money does not grow on trees or is withdrawn for free from ATM machines
  • For the youth - They need knowledge and skills to make responsible financial decisions. Students also need to understand the importance of having a wealth creation mindset
The bootcamp is for junior children in Grade 4 up to Grade 7 and we cater for the youth from Form 1 up to Form 6.
Why should children attend the bootcamp?

Despite being talented in a specific area, juniors and youths might need more know-how to develop their ideas and leverage their financial and non-financial resources to create sustainable income. Due to the economic challenges and scarcity of jobs, today's Zimbabwean youth must be encouraged to develop their own opportunities for income generation.

What will kids learn?

The bootcamp program will teach children the basic concepts of:

Juniors
  • Target - what is it that they want to buy should they have enough money?
  • Plan - how they will be able to raise money to buy the target, with the help of the parents they will agree on the type of small jobs they can do around the house – gardening, good behaviour, good grades etc.
  • Work - with the help of their parents they help to do some work in the house.
  • Earn - the parents reward them for their work, good behaviour, and grades.
  • Save - they start saving their money in their piggy units from Old Mutual.

We ask the kids what they know about saving and how their parents get money for everything they do in the home.

Youth
  • Financial Planning - Come up with short, medium, and long terms plans.
  • Savings - Learn to set savings targets and pay yourself first.
  • Investments - Learn about investments and insurance.
  • Budgeting - Importance of budgeting and steps towards creating budgets.
  • Managing Debt - Learn about the different types of debt and how to charge down debt.
